WIC Program Offers Food Packages and Nutritional Counseling

Services Provided by the WIC Program

In Illinois, over 40 percent of all babies born are on the WIC program. WIC is often the entry point into the health care system for WIC participants. Recent studies have shown that WIC participation reduces fetal deaths, infant deaths, low birth weight, and iron deficiency anemia. It also helps to increase immunization rates of children.
