FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

General Questions

How will my application be processed?

See the explanation under "Application Process".

Can I apply for more than one position at the same time?

You may apply for any position for which you meet the minimum qualifications, assuming there are positions available (current postings). There is a section on the application that asks which positions you are applying for. This is the section to complete for any and all positions you are interested in.

How are job openings advertised?

Job postings are advertised on this website, the County of Will website (willcountyillinois.com), they are sent to the Will County Workforce Services, and the Spanish Center. They are also placed on the posting boards in the Health Department building, the posting board at the Will County Office building, at the Warren Sharpe Center, at bulletin boards at each Will County Health Department branch office location, and occasionally in the Herald News, the Weekly Times, and the El Conquistador newspapers.

Can I just FAX or send in my resume instead of completing an application?

You may submit a resume for consideration for a position, however, prior to the interview you will be asked to complete an employment application, and include any diplomas, certifications, or credentials that may be stated as a requirement for the position.

What types of positions might be available?

The Will County Health Department is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers non-professional, paraprofessional, and professional positions. There are both union and non-represented staff. The union, or represented staff, are AFSCME members under a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Employees are also expected to adhere to The Employee Handbook & Work Rules Manual, as well as policy and procedures stated in several other Departmental documents.
