CHC Background and History
The Will County Community Health Center has been caring for the underinsured and uninsured residents of Will County since 1996. The Center received its' Federal designation in May 2001 and evolved from the Clinic Service Division of the Will County Health Department, replacing fragmented clinic care with holistic primary care services. As the only Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in the County, WCCHC is dedicated to its role as a safety net provider, serving all residents regardless of age, race, national origin or ability to pay. Multidisciplinary care is provided six days a week with two evening sessions, plus 24 hour physician accountability. Services include General Medicine, Woman's Services, STD/ HIV, Immunization, Laboratory and Dentistry. Charges are based on a sliding fee scale.
The Center is strategically located in the heart of the east side of Joliet at 1106 Neal Avenue. Since the Center's inception basic barriers to primary health care have been eliminated.
The increased number of persons seen for face-to-face health encounters at the Center is indicative of the unmet need of this community. The Center's growth is understandable, considering it is the only local clinic offering comprehensive primary health care on a sliding fee scale. The Center proudly offers a medical home for any and all persons who seek affordable quality health care. Patients without insurance are on a sliding fee scale. We accept Medicaid, Medicare, Private Insurance, HMO & PPO. MasterCard and Visa may also be used.
Fees
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), Will County Community Health Center offers discounts based on federally established guidelines. You may be eligible for a discount if you are not covered by an insurance plan.
Discounts are based upon family size and income. Proof of income is required to be considered for a discount. Discount levels are 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% on eligible services. There is a minimum $25.00 fee due per visit, regardless of discount. Discounts are re-evaluated each year.
In order to remain financially viable and competitive in their local marketplace and to help improve access to care patients may be required to be assessed for eligible entitlements (entitlements may include Medicaid, Illinois Healthy Women, IBCCP, or other public benefits). Will County Community Health Center provides assistance in completing entitlement programs.
Most Laboratory services for self-pay patients ordered and processed at the clinic are eligible for discounts and are billed by the centers' contracted vendors. Laboratory discounts are available to patients of the center only.
The Will County Community Health Center also accepts private insurance plans and some HMO or managed care plans.
An Inspiration... A Source of Pride... the new Will County Community Health Center building opened December 21, 2005.
