Introduction

During April 2009, a new strain of influenza emerged in Mexico.  Commonly called “swine flu,” health care professionals refer to this disease as H1N1 influenza.  This webpage is designed to provide you with basic information about the disease as well as recommendations on how you can avoid contracting and spreading the virus.

Vaccine Program

The Will County Health Department is working with Federal and State officials to launch a county vaccination program.  Our program’s goal is to provide the H1N1 vaccine to as many people as possible.  In the coming weeks, we will communicate information about the program, identify the priority groups who should receive the vaccine first, and identify additional providers of H1N1 vaccine.

The Three C’s

To help keep yourself, friends, family, and others healthy, remember the Three C’s.

  • COVER your coughs and sneezes
  • CLEAN your hands frequently
  • CONTAIN your germs by staying home when sick
