The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is the United States source of medicine and medical supplies in a public health emergency. In the event of an emergency, state and local public health agencies may be supplied with SNS supplies and medicines. The SNS is funded and coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (CDC)
SNS supplies are distributed only under critical public health emergency situations. An example of when SNS supplies and medicine may be used is a bioterrorism attack with an agent like anthrax which will result in an increasing number of people whom become ill and includes a positive lab confirmation of Anthrax.
Medication from the SNS will be free. No one will be asked for insurance information or be billed later and no one will be asked about immigration status.
