Genetics Program

Genetics Program

Provides Education and Referral Services

The purpose of the genetics program is to provide education and referral services to the people of Will County. We refer clients to the Genetics clinic at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Clients are seen by appointment only. Through a grant from the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Genetics program also includes nursing follow-up and any required home visits for metabolic conditions or screening failures, genetic conditions, and failed hearing screenings/confirmed hearing loss.

Program Eligibility

Families are referred from both the Illinois Department of Public Health and from the WIC/Family Case Management Program.  They may be in need of follow-up for unsatisfactory newborn screenings, failed hearing screenings, SIDS, genetic conditions, or reproductive risk.  This is a voluntary program. There is no fee – only an assessment
