Governing Council 2015 Meetings and Meeting Minutes

A Strategic planning session was conducted by the Will County Community Health Center (WCCHC) Governing Council in December 2015 and January 2016, with the Will County Health Department (WCHD) and WCCHC management.

Strategic plan 2015-2017

Collective Vision:

Improved financial performance

Improved patient health outcomes

Become the clinic of choice for Will County

Build a culture of trust through effective communication

Improve patient wait times

Increase number of new patients and retention of existing patients

3-year Strategic Directions:

  Enhance the patient experience

  Stream-line systems and processes

  Improve customer service

2.  Build a culture of trust through communication and empowerment

3.  Expand marketing efforts and improve revenue generation

90-day action steps for each strategic direction have been created for the first quarter of the year.  The plan is reviewed by management team monthly and by the Governing Council in April, July, October and January.  Additional action steps will be added at the beginning of each quarter.  Progress is already being made in achieving the goals.

Celebrating National Community Health Center week- August 14th-18th, 2017

Transforming Health Care in Our Local Communities

Each August we recognize the outstanding contributions of and services delivered by America's Health Centers.  Our theme this year is "Celebrating America's Health Centers:  Transforming Health Care in Our Local Communities" - and that is exactly what we do here at the Will County Community Health Center.  Community Health Centers, also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's) are non-profit, community-directed health care providers located in medically underserved rural and urban communities where health care resources are scarce.  Health centers provide access to care regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Join us in celebrating this week packed full of daily activities.  Just click on the attached pdf for details of FUN, FUN, & FUN!

National Infant Immunizations Week: April 20-27

Although vaccines can virtually eliminate many of the infectious conditions that killed and incapacitated at will in previous generations, parental indifference has taken its toll.  More than 35,000 US pertussis cases were reported a year ago, making 2012 the worst year for whooping cough in America since 1959.  For information about immunization services provided by the Will County Health Department, telephone 815-740-8143.

Healthy Teeth from Birth By: Dr. Sangita Garg D.D.S.

On a late afternoon at the Will County Community Health Center Dental Clinic, I reviewed the chart for my last patient of the day. I remembered seeing this 2 year old girl one week earlier and had scheduled her to receive a filling today. As I approached the dental operating room, I greeted this beautiful little patient warmly and she shook my hand with a smile, her mom looking more apprehensive than her.

Will County Health Department Encourages Cervical Cancer Screening

Schedule Your Pap Test

Women can prevent cervical cancer! Regular screening with Pap tests can detect cell changes before cancer develops.  Cervical cancer was once the leading cause of death for women in the U.S. However, deaths have decreased largely due to the use of regular pap tests and pelvic exams.  Regular testing is crucial in identifying cervical cancer or pre-cancerous conditions.
