The warm- weather months are the prime season for sporting events, fairs, festivals, community barbecues, and dozens of other occasions where food is served to the public. Will County Environmental Health inspects them all; making sure proper food storage, handling and preparation helps to minimize the potential for foodborne illness. Will County Environmental Health sanitarians conducted 1,005 food service inspections for temporary events during 2015.
If your special event includes food served to the public, be sure to apply for a temporary permit. Visit the Will County food safety page online at http://www.willcountyhealth.org, or phone Environmental Health at 815-727-8490. Questions can also be emailed to email@example.com.
