Monitoring the Health of the Community
One of the Will County Health Department’s many roles is to monitor the health of our community through surveillance of a variety of sources of public health data. It is by tracking key indicators of health that WCHD is able to identify trends that may pose a threat to the public and determine areas where we are making progress and where more progress is necessary.
Improvements in public health occur only after threats are clearly identified and understood. Once that is accomplished, real change comes as a result of actions taken by all of us as individuals and as parents, teachers, elected officials, businesses leaders and health professionals. We all play an essential role in improving the health and well-being of the community.
