The Administrative Services Division provides centralized functions for the Will County Health Department while offering the general public access to health data, records and opportunities to become engaged with the work of the department on many levels. As the Administrative arm of the health department, the division oversees financial management and budgeting, billings and collections, cash management, and audit resolution. It also handles information technology, telecommunications, human resources, purchasing and facilities management, courier services and security. Some parts of the human resource function, like the administration of benefits are handled through the Will County government Human Resources Division.
Externally, the Administrative Services Division provides the public with the ability to obtain copies of birth and death certificates, community health data and copies of records archived at the health department accessed through the Freedom of Information Act. In the interest of transparency, the division is responsible for preparing and posting online the health department annual report which contains the annual budget and details the operations of the several divisions over the course of the year. The division provides the public with a variety of volunteer opportunities as well as a number of internships and a job vacancy listing. The division also supervises a speaker’s bureau that makes health department staff available on a limited basis to speak to community groups about health department services.
Finally, The Health Department is responsible for implementing public health policies set by the Board of Health. The Board of Health is a 12-member policy making body comprised of health professionals and consumers appointed by the Will County Board.
